RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW-- Bittersweet (Redemption series #3) by Jessica Prince

Title: Bittersweet
Author: Jessica Prince
Series: Redemption
Romance: Contemporary, Small Town, Second Chance, Single Parent

I loved Jensen Rose with everything I had; then he stomped my heart to dust. Now I hate him, so why is it that I can’t get the sexy, infuriating father of my child out of my head?

She thought he was just a cocky, spoiled rich kid. She had it so very wrong.

Shane Hendrix had a hundred-foot reinforced steel wall around her heart to keep people out, so when she first laid eyes on Jensen Rose, she wanted nothing to do with him. But what started as disdain quickly grew into something so much more. He went from being the boy she hated to the man she loved with all her heart. Then he left without so much as a goodbye, leaving her shattered.

Jensen Rose didn’t have much good in his life. That was until he stumbled on a ray of light standing in the middle of his bedroom. He had to have her, and once he did, he loved her with every single piece of himself. But when his past threatened to rip them apart, he did the only thing he could think to protect her. He walked away.

When he returned to Redemption, Tennessee, it was with every intention of winning back the love of his life. But she’s not giving in without a fight.

And this is a battle he intends to win.

**The Redemption series is a series of interconnected, standalone, small town romances.**

“Sure you’ve noticed already, but it looks like big brother wants to rip your organs out through a hole he’s plannin’ to punch in your chest.”

I turned to look over my shoulder toward the section I knew Shane’s family would be sitting in, along with their other friends. They never sat anywhere else but at the pool tables whenever they came in. And sure enough, Stone Hendrix was looking at me exactly how Gage had described.

The dude had about two inches on me and a couple pounds worth of muscle. Every inch of his beefy arms was covered in colorful ink in intricate designs, only making him look even more menacing than he already did.

I’d only met the man twice back when Shane and I were together, but it had been enough for the dude to scare the absolute piss out of me. Now, not so much. I hadn’t been in a fight in years, but that didn’t mean I’d gotten rusty. If anything, with the skills I’d picked up during my time in the service, I was even better at it than I had been back then. It was just that I had my anger issues in check now.

I looked to his left and spotted Scooter sitting next to him—only slightly smaller but no less threatening—looking at me with the same scowl. Instead of turning away, I jerked my chin up, letting them know I wasn’t going to be intimidated into leaving. They knew why I was here. Hell, everyone in Redemption knew. I was here to get my family back, and I wasn’t going to let anyone get in the way of that.

    BOOKISH STACY RATING:🌟🌟🌟🌟
3.5 stars
Oh Jensen and Shane! This is the story I've been waiting for since they were first introduced in Bad Alibi. I couldn't wait to find out what happened to separate these two several years ago. While I did enjoy this one, I had a hard time with Jensen's reasons for leaving, especially since he essentially left his child as well as Shane. I understood why he felt that he had to but it didn't totally redeem him in my eyes. I did enjoy getting the flashbacks of their relationship--I really needed that present time explanation--but I felt that there were maybe too many and took me out of the story at times. The ending felt a bit rushed as well. I really loved Shane and absolutely adored their son, Brantley. I also enjoyed revisiting characters from previous books and loved that Shane's girl posse always had her back. Even though it wasn't my favorite, it was still a darn good read and I look forward to more of the series.

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

Excerpt:

I leaned against the tree at the edge of the beach, taking in the show. The woman seemed to be one with the water. Smooth strokes cut through the inlet’s subtle waves. They were both graceful and powerful, restrained and explosive. A juxtaposition so similar to the woman herself.

Kenna made her way towards the rocky shore. Climbing to her feet, rivulets of water traced paths down curves that even her full-coverage, black Speedo couldn’t disguise. She wrung out her hair, and the long, dark sheet sprang up in unexpected curls. They reminded me of that part of Kenna she liked to hide away from the world.

Her movements faltered, and then she swiped her towel up from the beach. “What are you doing here?”

I grinned, pushing off the tree trunk and striding towards her. “Caelyn told me this was a good spot for paddleboarding.”

Kenna mumbled something about her friend being a traitor. “I’m surprised you’re even up this early.”

I gave a little shrug. I had to be at a meeting at ten, so this was the only opportunity I’d have all day to be on the water. “Every day is different.”

“Must be nice to just flit around wherever the wind takes you.”

My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I slid it out. A familiar number, one I wished like hell I could forget, flashed across my screen along with a text.

Hey, Crosby. Can we talk? It’s important.

My face went hard as ice seemed to slide through my veins. Alicia’s gamble hadn’t paid off, and now she was trying to get her second choice back on the line. Not in this lifetime.

A cold hand grazed my forearm, yet somehow, the touch seemed to heat my skin. “Are you okay?”

I gave my head a little shake, plastering on my signature carefree smile. “Just those damn telemarketers. They never give up.”

Kenna’s hand fell away, and she took a step back. “You can just tell me to mind my own business. You don’t have to lie.”

I instantly felt the loss of her heat, the faint buzz on my skin where she’d touched me. “Fair enough.” Kenna kept her gaze locked to mine as if daring me to tell her the truth. I took the coward’s way out and changed the subject. “I like these.” I reached out and took a strand of her hair in my fingers, releasing it and letting the curl bounce.

Pink tinged her cheeks. “I prefer it straight.”

My grin grew wider. “I don’t know, Brown Eyes, I think you should let it run wild.” And what I would give to see this woman free and untamed.

BOOKISH STACY RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Perfect Wreckage is the second book in The Wrecked Series and gives us the story of Kenna and Crosby. It has characters that were present in book one, but can easily be read as a stand-alone.

Oh, my heart! This one put me through the ringer. One thing I know for sure, no matter how much Catherine Cowles tears my heart up during a book, she will make sure it's all put back together and wrapped up with a great big bow of happiness by the end. Kenna's story broke me and I cried several times for all that she had endured. Crosby was the perfect hero for Kenna and watching them get closer and learn how to trust in each other was a beautiful thing.  The author's storytelling abilities never cease to amaze me. She truly paints a picture with her words, creating authentic characters that I want to know and gorgeous places that I never want to leave. Perfect Wreckage is definitely one that will be on my re-read list and I can't recommend it enough.

If you are an audiobook fan, Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell do a fantastic job narrating this one!

RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW -- Unraveling Him (The Bailey Brothers #3) by Claire Kingsley

5

Title: Unraveling Him

Author: Claire Kingsley

Release Date: August 20, 2020

She’s the sunshine to his storm cloud

Stoic, growly Evan Bailey has enough on his plate. A growing business, a pack of brothers who drive him crazy, a gossip-loving small town, and a rivalry that runs deeper than any family feud. Love? That’s a hard pass. He already learned the hard way that he’s better off alone. Fiona Gallagher has a problem. Or more like ten, but who’s counting? The trouble with her car is just the cherry on top of the crap sundae, but she won’t let that get her down. Besides, she has a plan. Evan Bailey—that brooding custom car builder who happens to hate her father—is going to help her. He just doesn’t know it yet. The last thing Evan needs is the overly cheery Fiona crashing into his solitary life. But her offer is too compelling to ignore. Fiona isn’t there to pick through the wreckage of Evan’s heart. If he has one, he won’t let her anywhere near it. But the tension between them is hot enough to combust. And when she starts to see the cracks in his stony façade, she realizes she’s getting more than she bargained for—a lot more—in that big surly man.

Author’s Note: A grouchy, broody loner meets an adorable badass (who talks to her houseplants). It’s the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one with some engine-revving twists. Have a fan ready—you’re in for a Kindle-melting ride.

Unraveling Him is FREE to read with Kindle Unlimited: http://mybook.to/UnravelingHim3

BOOKISH STACY RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

THE GRUMPY ONE FALLS FOR THE SUNSHINE ONE! 😍

I think Evan Bailey might be my favorite grumpy hero ever!
This is the third book in The Bailey Brothers series and you should definitely read these in order.

It's Evan Bailey turn to find his HEA, even though that is pretty much the last thing he wants. Enter Fiona Gallagher, who quite literally inserts herself into Evan's life and turns his world upside down. What happens with the grumpy, reclusive "Lone-Wolf" is thrown together with the singing, sunshine-attitude, plant-talking, squirrel-whispering "Cricket" is the stuff that makes my heart smile and swoon! As with the previous books, Gram is there with all of her wisdom, Cara is there with her smack-talk, and all the Bailey's are there for each other no matter what. And of course, there are shenanigans galore with the ongoing battle between the Baileys and the Havens plus a bit of a tease for the next book, which can't come soon enough.

Totally loved this one!

BOOKISH STACY RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Jessica Prince has very quickly become a one-click author for me. She has a formula that just works for me Every. Single. Time. Waiting for Forever is the eighth book in the Hope Valley series and is another one that the author just hit out of the park. An OTT protective alpha hero (who happens to be an awesome dad) and the sweet, shy, nerdy heroine that has crushed on him forever? Yes, thank you very much! Ex-drama? Sign me up. A wonderful girl gang that is there for all of it? YES. Danika and Leo are definitely one of my favorite couples to date. I'm pretty sure I'll never tire of the happenings in Hope Valley and can't wait to see what comes next!

We were both sweaty and panting like we’d just run a marathon. Releasing my breast and hip, he reached for my hands and gently pried my fingers from the headboard. I would have collapsed onto the mattress in a sated heap had it not been for him holding on to me and guiding me down slowly.
Once there, he turned me to my back and hovered over me, his fingers coming up to brush the damp hair from my forehead.
“You okay, sweetheart?”
I gazed up at him, sure my grin was totally goofy as I replied, “So okay.”
The harshness that had been carved into his expression when he first entered the room was now completely gone, in its place was a look so tender and so warm it made my heart expand.
“Thank you for that,” he said quietly, leaning in to run the tip of his nose along mine.
“Pretty sure I’m the one who should be thanking you. After all, you did most of the heavy lifting.”
He chuckled for a second before his expression grew serious. “I mean it, Danika. I needed that. I needed you. That’s the brand of sweet only you’re capable of giving me because it’s just how you are.”
It had to be said that I really liked hearing that in a seriously big way

Excerpt:
Seven miles and an hour later, and all the anxiety I’d felt the night before was completely gone.
At least, until I rounded the foyer into the kitchen and saw I wasn’t the only one up early on Sunday morning.
Tyler sat at the kitchen island, still in his navy blue sweat pants and simple white t-shirt, with one foot planted on the ground and the other hooked casually on the lower bar of his stool. His hair was an absolute disaster, the boyish waves sticking up this way and that. He had both hands wrapped around a mug of hot tea, his eyes focused on the iPad he had propped up in front of him, and BlueTooth headphones in his ears.
At first, he didn’t notice me, and I slowed my steps, standing silently at the entry of the kitchen and watching him. I’d done everything I could last night to avoid his gaze, to not look at him, and now that I had a stolen moment to observe, I found my chest tightening again, my mouth dry and sticky.
His brown eyes were hidden beneath bent brows, expression serious as he watched whatever was on the screen. Small lines creased the edges of his eyes — lines that weren’t there when we were kids. He’d grown into a man somehow, overnight, it seemed. Then again, it had been years.
I’d seen him on social media, watched from afar as his YouTube channel took off. I’d seen pictures of him on Instagram — traveling through Europe, hiking in Australia, swimming in hot pools in Iceland. I didn’t follow him, of course, but his profile was public, which allowed me to flip through picture after picture on the nights when I was a pathetic mess.
But, pictures and videos didn’t do justice to the actual man who sat studiously at that kitchen island.
He was something between the boy I used to love and the man I’d never know, familiar and unreachable all at once.
Tyler shook his head at something, letting out a frustrated sigh and kicking back the bar stool a little before taking a sip of his tea. His eyes flicked to me then, back to the screen, and then, he did a double take, this time fixing his gaze on me and leaving it there.
Something changed in his eyes when he looked at me, like a shadow passed over them and held him captive. I was dressed in jogger shorts and a modest tank top, but from the way he watched me, I might as well have been completely naked.
That’s what his gaze did to me, what it always had done.
It stripped me bare.

BOOKISH STACY RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I really enjoyed this third book in The Silver Foxes of Blue Ridge series. This time, it's the Mayor's turn to find love! Single dad AND single mom? I love it! Charlie and Nessa had fantastic chemistry and I loved seeing some of my other Harrington faves. I've said it before--no one writes better mature romance than LB Dunbar!

I’ve been accused of having an over-active imagination. To my benefit, this imagination has created over twenty novels, including the creation of a small-town world (Sensations Collection), rock star mayhem (Legendary Rock Star series), MMA chaos (Paradise Stories), rom-com for the over forty (The Sex Education of M.E.), and a suspenseful island for redemption (The Island Duet). My alter ego, elda lore, creates magical romance through mythological retellings (Modern Descendants). My life revolves around a deep love of reading about fairy tales, medieval knights, regency debauchery, and strong alpha males. I love a deep belly laugh, a strong hug, and an occasional margarita.
