Welcome to their kingdom

Cole Covington is the most popular heartbreaker at school.
Every guy wants to be him and every girl wants to screw him.
Except me.
His devastatingly good looks, golden arm, and flirty smiles don't do it for me anymore...because I know what's lurking underneath the star quarterback's gorgeous armor.

At least I thought I did.

Sometimes the most beautiful people...hide the ugliest truths.

And sometimes the only way to save someone...
is to walk beside them through hell.

Sawyer Church is the bible-thumping nerd of Royal Hearts Academy.
Girls pick on her and guys don't notice her.
Except me.
Sweet, curvy, and sarcastic, she's impossible to ignore.
No matter how much I try.
Everyone at school has her pegged as the chubby, Jesus loving geek, but unlike them—Sawyer's real and never pretends to be someone she's not.

Until I ask her to be my fake girlfriend.

Sometimes the most beautiful souls...hide the greatest pain.

And sometimes the only way to save someone...
 is to fight for them.

  Excerpt:
I open my mouth to speak, but Bianca beats me to it.
“In Cole’s defense, he told me not to hook up with any guys. He never said anything
about girls, though.” Smirking, she adds, “Plus, it’s not like he was there. He was too
busy hanging out with his new girlfriend, Sawyer.”
On second thought, maybe locking her up in the basement isn’t such a bad idea after
all. There would be way less shit for her to stir up from down there.
I can tell the exact moment Jace processes what she said because the little vein in his
forehead makes an appearance. “Sawyer? As in Dylan’s best friend, Sawyer?”
“Do you know any other Sawyers?”
“I told you to stay away from her.”
“You also told me not to fuck Mrs. Bennett, but she ended up giving me an A in history.”
“Holy shit. You fucked Cortland’s mom?” Bianca exclaims.
 We both ignore her.
“Look,” Jace starts. “Dylan doesn’t want you hanging around Sawyer. Not after what you
 did to her.”
“I’m sorry, last I checked, I’m a big boy and Dylan doesn’t get to make decisions for me.”
 “Yeah,” Bianca cheers.
Jace’s gaze swings her way. “Go upstairs.”
“Whatever.” She fixes her stare on Oakley. “I’m gonna call *** and see if she wants to
hang out.” Oakley makes a low growling sound as she scampers away. When she’s out of earshot,
he says, “***** is a sweet girl, Jace. You need to put an end to that shit.”
Huffing out a breath, Jace motions to me. “Yeah, after I put out the other fire.”
“Me dating Sawyer isn’t a fire.”

 It’s a motherfucking atomic bomb.

RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW -- Protecting What's Mine by Lucy Score

Title: Protecting What's Mine: A Small Town Love Story
Author: Lucy Score
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 16, 2020
If you can’t stand the heat, don’t fall for a firefighter… Fire Chief Lincoln Reed is known for his heroics in the fire department and in the bedroom. Life is a never-ending good time. Until she lands in the middle of the accident scene he’s working…and then his backyard. Too bad she’s immune to flirty first responders. Flight trauma surgeon Mackenzie O’Neil is on a crash course with burnout. She’s got a scar on her face and a shake in her hands. A temporary job as a small-town family physician is just the prescription. She’ll learn to meditate. Sleep more. Take up gardening. She definitely won’t take her shirtless, firefighting neighbor’s hot body for a test drive. But Linc and his tattoos are very persuasive. What’s a harmless little adrenaline-fueled fling between neighbors? It’s all naked fun and games until the shadows from Mack’s past find their way into her present. Can Linc be her hero when she needs him the most or will their scars ruin everything? One thing is certain: Someone is going to get burned. Author’s Warning: This small-town happily ever after is smokin’ hot, sweetly hilarious, deliciously suspenseful, and a one-two punch to the feels. One-click for a disaster dog, precocious kids, a good ol’ fistfight, nosy neighbors, high-adrenaline first responder heroics, firefighter bromance, and kitchen sexytimes.

BOOKISH STACY RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Every single time I think Lucy Score can't possible give me a hero that makes me swoon harder than the previous one, she ups her game and proves me wrong. She's done that once again with Linc. Chief Sexy Pants was hotter than hot and sweeter than sweet. The love of his town, his fellow firefighters and his dog, Sunshine were enough to give me huge heart eyes and then Mack is introduced to the story and with their interaction, I was a goner. He's pretty much the perfect book boyfriend. I loved these two big time and their story was just everything. They both had so much more to them than what meets the eye and I loved watching those layers be peeled back.  I was thrilled to be back in Benevolence and revisiting all these characters that I have fallen in love with. I can't recommend it enough. All the stars!

Lucy Score is a Wall Street Journal and #1 Amazon bestselling author. Small town contemporary rom-coms are her lady jam and she enjoys delivering the feels with a huge side of happily ever after.
Her books have been translated into several languages, making readers around the world snort laugh, swoon, and sob. Lucy lives in Pennsylvania with the devastatingly handsome Mr. Lucy and their horrible cat.
In her spare time she enjoys sleeping, drinking copious amounts of coffee, and reading all the romance novels in the universe.

Excerpt

I walked over to the window and flicked open the blind. Only Deacon, Sunny and Kai were left around the fire. “I think the other couples all have the same idea.”
Paisley scrunched her eyes tight and slapped her hands over her ears. “Oh god, our parents too?”
“They were probably the first to sneak off. They’re probably getting their groove on to Barry Manilow right now.” I wriggled my eyebrows at her.
She burst into laughter. “I can’t even with all of that.”
I pulled her into my arms and brushed my lips over hers. “Me neither. Now can we stop talking about my dad boning your mother?”
“Oh my god. I’m dying.”
“Get over here and kiss me, Paisley. Or I’ll keep saying it.”
She was on my lips in seconds. Just the way I liked it.
BOOKISH STACY RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I haven't read Elle Thorpe before but with that title, blurb, and cover, I jumped at the chance to get my hands on it.  This was just a really good read. I love the single parent trope and this gave me a double win--single dad and single mom. I was a little worried when I found out the hero is a widower because I feel like a lot can go wrong when there's a deceased spouse but in this case, I thought the author handled it really well and it wasn't an issue for me. I loved the way the hero and heroine initially "meet" and I enjoyed their banter. The kids and the grandparents just added so much--they were really adorable. I thought the story flowed really well and it held my interest from beginning to end.  I'm excited to read more of this series! Highly recommend!

Author Bio

Elle Thorpe lives on the sunny east coast of Australia, about an hour out of Sydney. When she's not writing stories full of kissing and chemistry, she's a wife, and Mummy to three tiny humans. She's also official ball thrower to one slobbery dog named Rollo. Yes, she named a female dog after a male character on Vikings. Don't judge her. Elle is a complete and utter fangirl at heart, obsessing over The Walking Dead and Outlander to an unhealthy degree. But she wouldn't change a thing.

BOOKISH STACY RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I fell in love with Jessica Prince last year largely due to her Hope Valley series and she has quickly become one of my favorite authors.  I am a huge sucker for small-town romance and she does it SO very well and her alpha heroes are some of the best I've read. She has outdone herself once again with this kick off to the Redemption series.

Bad Alibi is the first book of the Redemption series, which is a spin-off of the Hope Valley series. We first met Cannon in Out of the Darkness but it's not necessary to read that book prior to this one.

I loved this book from beginning to end! Farah meets Cannon when she moves to Redemption, Tennessee to start over and their connection is immediate and intense. She has always been rich in dollars while Cannon has been rich in the things that matter most and I loved watching them navigate their path to each other. These characters found their way quickly into my heart and the story drew me in and kept me completely immersed. I laughed and cried and swooned. This town and it's colorful residents are definitely going to give Hope Valley some competition as my favorite JP series and I can't wait to see what she has planned for us next.

Lifting the beer bottle to my lips, I took a pull as I stared around in wonder at my new house. Typically, I would have toasted something as awesome as moving into my brand new dream home with a glass of champagne, but I lived in a biker town and I was dating a biker. There was no way the people in my life now were going to drink champagne, so when Darla and Buck showed up to join in the celebration, they brought a case of beer with them.
And I was just fine with that.
The last moving truck had taken off five minutes earlier, and even though every piece of furniture was right where it was supposed to be, there was still a lot of work to be done. Unlike Cannon, I fully intended to put my stamp on this beautiful old Victorian. There were boxes to unpack, art and pictures to hang, and toss pillows to toss. It would take several more shopping trips to fill all the space; a challenge I was more than up for.
But all of that could wait. I was finally home, and that was the only thing that mattered to me.
Clay and his men had done better than I could have imagined. Every room was warm and inviting and absolutely perfect. They’d even worked a miracle with my bedroom walls. You couldn’t even see the crappy paint job I’d done when you looked at it now.
I thought back to that very first day, when I’d stepped through that front door into a dilapidated pit. I thought back to the warmth rooting in my chest, and I knew I’d never forget that moment, because it was the exact same warmth I felt as I looked at all my friends and family gathered in my new kitchen, drinking beer and cutting up.
Bennett and Jase were there. Cannon, Shane, Brantley, and Poppy. Banks had shown up with Bev earlier to help with the move. Scooter was there with his wife, along with Danno and Fletch. Several of my regulars at the bar had come bearing housewarming gifts. Everyone I cared about was standing in this room, and as I looked around, I discovered something that had me dangerously close to tears.
I didn’t have enough chairs.
“What’s on your mind, sweet pea?” Jase asked, coming over and slinging his arm around my shoulders. “This is supposed to be a happy day, and you look like you’re about to start crying.”
“I don’t have enough chairs,” I whispered, my voice scratchy with emotion.
He looked down at me like I had lost my mind. “You’re about to burst into tears because you don’t have enough chairs? That’s an easy enough fix, Farah. Or have you forgotten you’re loaded?”
I let out a watery laugh and smacked him in his stomach. “It’s not that, you jerk. I’m not upset.”
“Then what is it?”
“All my life, I’ve only had two people, Jase. You and Bennett, that’s it. And that was always enough for me. I was lucky, having the two of you. But now . . . now I have this.” I waved my arm out. “Now I have so many people who mean something to me that I don’t have enough chairs for them all to sit in. So, yeah, I’m close to crying, but it’s only because I’m incredibly, stupidly happy.”

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.
Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.
In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.
Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.
