REVIEW -- Broken Halo (The Montgomerys #2) by Brynne Asher

Four little numbers … four little words. They might be random and insignificant to anyone else, but they meant something to us.

No, they meant everything to us.

Until they were ripped away.

That was the day our lives took a different course. One we had no control over. One that others puppeteered and mangled into a cluster so big, it left us with emotional scars lined with resentment and venom toward each other.

All because I’m a Montgomery and he’s a Barrett.

Now, Trig’s back and he hates me with more hostility and rage than ever … and I’ve learned to do the same. But when the world comes crashing down and the stakes couldn’t be higher, I can’t run and I can’t hide.

I need the help of the one person whose loathing for me runs deeper than blood and colder than his icy-blue stare.

I need Trig.

I need him more than I know.

Bookish Stacy Review:

I am a HUGE fan of Brynne Asher, but *whispers* I was a little nervous about reading this book. The first book in this series wasn't my favorite of hers and I worried that maybe this series would just not be for me.

So, I'm cruising right along through the first few chapters, enjoying myself, curiosity building, and then Zero-Three-Zero-Nine happened...

...and I knew--I just knew there was nothing to worry about except for how much my heart would break for these characters before it would be put back together again by the wonderful words of Ms. Asher.

I loved this book. I felt like it had just the right amount of heart, intrigue, and sexy to keep me on my toes the whole time. I loved watching Trig and Ellie come to terms with this lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers relationship. I loved how Ellie was a mama bear for her son, Griffin, and how her sister always had her back.  I loved how Ellie finally learned how to let people in--to let people help.  I usually despise plots that come from a miscommunication or misunderstanding, but the way that it was handled here worked. And there is so much more going on than just the relationship between Trig and Ellie, it just really makes for a fantastic read.  I couldn't put it down. I'm so excited to see what comes next in this series! Highly recommend!
