RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW -- Bastard Bachelor Society (Bastard Bachelor Club #1) by Sara Ney

What is the Bastard Bachelor Society?

It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have.

Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified.

We’re ineligible bachelors; bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually

We’re so committed to being single, we’ve created a high stakes bet to see who can remain single the longest. Rules are involved. Prizes.

Laugh it up, but I’m no loser.

Enemy number one to my single status? My irresistible neighbor, Abbott Margolis. She with her evil cat Desdemona, and Sexy AF pencil skirts. She’s kind and beautiful and hilarious. We can’t get involved, no matter how much her meddling grandmother pushes us together. But if I was going to lose this bet for anyone? It would for Abbott.

Let’s face facts: I’m a bastard, unwilling to settle down.

Especially when there’s a bet to win.

 BOOKISH STACY RATING: 🌟🌟🌟
Bastard Bachelor Society is book one in a new series (Bastard Bachelor Club) by Sara Ney. In it, we see three best friends form their own club of bachelors (complete with rules and smoking jackets) and wager on who will be the last man standing (aka, the last bachelor of the group.) Of course, basically as soon as the group is formed, one of the friends (Brooks) meets his gorgeous neighbor (Abbott) and his allegiance to the club rules is immediately tested.

I've read and loved several books by this author before but this one just missed the mark for me. I never really connected with the characters and while I thought the premise was cute, something was just missing for me. I did really love any part that had Nan in it--she was my favorite character. We also get a couple of chapters from the point of view of Brooks' cat, Desdemona, that were super fun. I've very much enjoyed this author's other work, so I would absolutely read more from her.

RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW -- Love According to Science (Dirty Martini Running Club #2) by Claire Kingsley

Title: Love According to Science
Series: Dirty Martini Running Club
Author: Claire Kingsley
Genre: Steamy Romantic Comedy
Release Date: January 23, 2020

"I would give this book ALL THE STARS if I could. Five is not nearly enough. This is such a clever, fresh take on finding your soul-mate." ~ Read Me Romance Blog

"Take necessary precautions: two nerdy scientists are about to light up your ereader and leave you with a hot flash!" ~ Marika Ray, author of MomCom

"There was just something about these two that clicked and made my inner nerd squeal. And can I just applaud Kingsley on writing this story? The amount of research alone that she had to have done. Wowza." ~ Amity Book Blog
"Corban is adorable. Disheveled, distracted, caring, full of animal facts, a BOSS in bed, and secretly jacked- what more could you want?" ~ Romance Reviewed

For psychology researcher Hazel Kiegen, science holds all the answers. Her decision to swear off dating? Totally backed by her own calculations. Just don’t ask about her missing orgasms. She hasn’t been able to science her way out of that little conundrum. But her biggest problem? Corban Nash. He’s frustrating. Infuriating. And deliciously adorable, but that’s neither here nor there. He claims to have cracked the code to falling in love, and Hazel is determined to prove him wrong.
Corban Nash created the theory of accelerated intimacy after numerous successful tests on his friends and family. Every couple who used his questionnaire fell in love, until Corban found himself the last single guy in his social circle, and a groomsman in dozens of weddings.
The only problem is, it’s never worked on him. And science hasn’t explained why.
Despite being the lone aberrant data point, Corban believes in his research, and with his new job, he’ll have the resources to prove it. Verifying his theory right under the nose of his nemesis, Hazel Kiegen? Even better.
There isn’t a theory in existence that will make Hazel fall in love with Corban. Not even with his sexy half-smile and temptingly muscular body. But from the moment these two rivals meet, sparks fly. And when they put his questionnaire to the test, the results aren’t what either of them expect.
BOOKISH STACY RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Love According to Science is the second book in the Dirty Martini Running Club series. You could certainly read it as a stand-alone but book one (Faking Ms. Right) is crazy good, and the characters are recurring so I would suggest reading in order. Ok? Ok.

Now, THIS BOOK! Ahhhhhhh! I love me some nerds!
Corban and Hazel hate each other, but that doesn't mean that they aren't ridiculously attracted to each other. When they're forced together by a work project, they start realizing that the hate and lust aren't the only things that they're feeling. I just loved these two! They are both so unique in their quirky behavior but for the most part, they OWN it and I adored that about them. Hazel has tons of conversations with her cat. Corban blurts out random animal facts when he's nervous. They are just lovable characters and I couldn't get enough of their clumsy interactions. The sexual chemistry between the two is
OFF THE CHARTS HOT and when they finally get together, it's explosive! 🎆

This book is filled with laughs, witty banter, completely awkward moments, a fluffy (aka fat) cat, baked goods, untucked shirts, dirty thoughts and talk, bedazzled bitches, penguins, sweet and swoony moments, best friends, cameos from other CK characters, lots of drinks and a marathon. Oh, and rocks that make me cry. Don't worry, it'll all make sense.

This is going down as one of my favorite Claire Kingsley books and I highly recommend it!

"Love was really awesome, and I didn't even need science to tell me that."

BOOKISH STACY RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Tarnished Crowns is set in an alternate UK where Scotland and England are independent of each other--each with their own monarchy. Blair is the Scottish princess and her brother is the future king. Blair and Ben (who is the gardener's son) were childhood friends and come together again when Ben is hired to Blair's security detail. I will admit, it took a bit for this book to completely grab my interest even after that shocker of a prologue, but once I was in, I was ALL IN. This MMF political suspense story had me clambering to know exactly what was happening and who could be trusted and by the end, I was second-guessing everything I thought to be true. I have absolutely no idea what to expect in the next book, but my grabby hands are ready for it.

BOOKISH STACY RATING: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

When Billy Harrington finds out that he is a father to a teenager he never knew about, he doesn't quite know what to do. He is completely out of his element. You see,  he's the Harrington that can't quite do anything right--the family disappointment.  He dropped out of college. He messed up his marriage. He sleeps with anyone and everyone.  He's the party guy that opened a bar instead of joining the family business. He's unreliable and only cares about himself.
--or at least, that's what his reputation says about him and *GASP* you can't really believe everything you hear, can you?

When Billy's daughter (Sadie) moves in with her aunt, Roxanne McAllister (aka, bookstore owner and Billy's nemesis,) he has to find a way to become a father AND get along with Roxie. Sadie broke my heart going through so much in her young life. I adored the relationship between her and Billy. And Roxie and Billy? I was thrilled to discover that Billy is so much more than what he seems. The same can be said for Roxie for different reasons. These two are fire and ice and their banter was definitely a favorite part of the story for me. I absolutely loved watching this unexpected family, who seem so different from each other, learn to navigate a life together where they can all let go of their past hurts and build something new and glorious together. This is one of the reasons I love LB Dunbar's books--her characters are mature and relationships are not always easy when you are older and established in your life.  Real life is messy and complicated and beautiful and this book shows that.  I loved it from beginning to end and highly recommend it!

I’ve been accused of having an over-active imagination. To my benefit, this imagination has created over twenty novels, including the creation of a small-town world (Sensations Collection), rock star mayhem (Legendary Rock Star series), MMA chaos (Paradise Stories), rom-com for the over forty (The Sex Education of M.E.), and a suspenseful island for redemption (The Island Duet). My alter ego, elda lore, creates magical romance through mythological retellings (Modern Descendants). My life revolves around a deep love of reading about fairy tales, medieval knights, regency debauchery, and strong alpha males. I love a deep belly laugh, a strong hug, and an occasional margarita. My other loves include being mother to four grown children and wife to the one and only.

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.
Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.
In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.
Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.
